How to clean and maintain greenhouse acrylic sheets for long-lasting use

Traditional greenhouses are built with glass, but using glass as a greenhouse also has some disadvantages. The glass is heavy and a better frame structure is needed.

Glass is easy to break, and in a garden where children play freely, this is a costly risk. It needs a solid foundation to support its weight, and the initial cost of installation is very expensive.

Acrylic sheet is a substitute for glass. Using it in your greenhouse can provide you with many advantages. they are:

Acrylic is a safer and more durable alternative than glass, but it must be kept clean to make it durable. Knowing how to clean and maintain acrylic sheets is essential to prolong its service life.

In addition, when the acrylic sheet is not properly cleaned and maintained, its appearance will become dull. To make it look shiny and polished, you need to clean and maintain it frequently.

Another reason to keep acrylic windows clean is to prevent scratches. If you put it aside without proper maintenance, it is easily scratched. Adequate cleaning can ensure that the acrylic sheet is free of dirt and scratches.

In addition, keeping the acrylic greenhouse board clean will help your plants get more sunlight. The dirty acrylic surface can prevent light from entering your plants, but keeping it clean means your plants will get all the light they need.

Acrylic should be cleaned carefully, because if harsh solvents and cleaning agents are used, the sheet may be damaged.

Used to clean and remove blemishes

To remove blemishes and scratches, you need:

To perform the necessary cleaning of your greenhouse acrylic panels, please start from the following:

Use a blower to remove dust and dirt accumulated on the acrylic sheet. Set it to the lowest speed and move it away from the window about three to four inches. Cover the acrylic surface equally from one side to the other. You may need to use additional cords so that you can cover the sheets evenly with a hairdryer.

Mix dishwashing liquid with warm water to make a cleansing liquid. To make sure you don’t leave streaks on the glass, mix one gallon of water with three drops of dishwashing liquid. You can pour it into a spray bottle or use it directly from the bucket for immediate cleaning.

It is best to use microfiber cloth to avoid scratches. If you don't have one, you can use a soft, lint-free cloth that will not wear out. You can wet the fabric directly by putting in the cleaning liquid or moistening it with a spray bottle.

Make sure to use a new clean cloth or microfiber cloth to clean the acrylic windows. Dirt or debris left over from previous cleaning can easily scratch your acrylic when you reuse the cleaning cloth.

You have blown off the dust and dirt, mixed the cleaning fluid, and have a cleaning cloth on hand. Now, all you need to do is clean the acrylic sheet with a damp microfiber cloth, making sure to get wet where and when it is needed.

When cleaning, apply low pressure and gently wipe the acrylic surface to prevent scratches. Dirt and debris will not stick to the acrylic sheet. Simple cleaning should remove the dirt and residue in the acrylic greenhouse.

After cleaning with a damp cloth, wipe the sheets with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. It is to prevent the formation of water spots. Using short circular motions instead of wiping the surface can cause scratches.

1. Use mild alcohol to clean fingerprints

To remove fingerprints on the acrylic sheet, please moisten a gentle soft cloth, or you can use isopropyl alcohol. Wipe it on the area with fingerprints on the acrylic plate. Once you cannot see the print, use a clean damp cloth to quickly remove the alcohol. Mild alcohol can only be used for this purpose, and cannot be used for regular acrylic cleaning.

To remove hard stains such as tar, grease, or oil in the acrylic greenhouse, obtain a small amount of kerosene. Moisten the soft cloth with kerosene. Cover the acrylic stained surface with a damp cloth as gently as possible to prevent scratches.

Once the stain disappears, immediately clean the area with a separate damp cloth to remove traces of kerosene.

3. Remove wear and scratches.

You can remove tiny scratches and abrasions on the surface of the greenhouse acrylic sheet. For this, you can use car wax, floor wax or car polish.

Use microfiber or a clean soft cloth to coat a thin layer of wax evenly on the surface of the acrylic sheet. Using another clean damp cloth, gently wipe the wax on the surface to remove scratches and abrasions.

To prevent your acrylic sheet from being damaged during the cleaning process, please pay attention to the following:
