Craig Biorn, graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1979, won the 2021 Brightside Empirical Review Award for his acrylic paintings of landscape and abstract works.

Bean painted the covers for two true story books he wrote, and he speculated that these books brought his work to the attention of the Brightside Board in Florida, where he now lives.

Last spring, we talked to him about the book "Bilan's Journey of Hope", which tells about his wife Bilan escaping from war-torn Somalia to the United States.

A few months later, his other book "Barbara's Bah Bah" was published. This is the story of his mother showing her lamb Rossi at the Goodhue County Fair in Zambrotta, Michigan in 1957.

This book tells of Barbara Luhman's many experiences that summer on their farm in Goodhue, Michigan.

Rosie escaped her pen and got hurt. Other adventures are described in this easy-to-read book, which can be ordered from Biorn's website. craigbiorn.com

I first met Craig in 2000, when he contacted me that his horse Zumbrota's Tiger was running on the Canterbury Park circuit in Shakopee, Missouri.

We arranged for the AM Minnesota project in Canterbury, where we talked with various people involved in the track.

After the show ended on July 15, 2000, I stayed to watch Zumbrota's Tiger win the fourth game. Craig asked me to join his family and others in the circle of victory.

This is a very interesting day.
