If you've played the recent Doom Eternal and like the look of some of the guitars found there, you might be wondering if it is possible to make one for real? As it turns out there is. 

Follow this simple guide to find out. 

As you can imagine, you'll need some tools and materials before you get started.

With everything in hand, it is time to get on with the build.

The first step is to get an idea of the design for your guitar. You can do this by hand or, like in this video, design it in a CAD program. 

Once happy, you can then begin to build the thing. Take some sheets of wood, and secure them in your wood CNC machine, load your design, and let the machine do its thing.

Otherwise, you can transfer your design to the wood and cut, chisel, and route by hand. Once done, prepare the basic guitar body and drill/countersink holes to receive the main guitar parts like the pickup, neck, etc.

With the main body of the guitar basically complete, we can now begin to assemble the piece. Take the guitar neck and push it into position on the body. 

Adjust the mounting point as needed.  

With that done, route, cut, and drill the body of the guitar, where needed, any fine detail needed. Once you are happy, spray paint the entire piece. You can also paint any other decorative features like knobs, badges, etc, that you plan to attach to the guitar. 

For this guitar, you will also need to CNC a pair of ax-blade-shaped pieces of clear plastic or acrylic. These will light up when the guitar is in use. 

With the paint dry, you can now begin to actually assemble the guitar. Add the turning keys to the head of the guitar, frets, and other parts to the neck of the guitar as needed. 

Attach the pickups and bridge to the main body of the guitar too. If not already done, also install the output jack and any other electronic parts for the guitar to the body as needed. 

If you plan to add other electrical accessories to the guitar, like lights, you can install these elements too. These will need to point outwards from inside the guitar body to light up the axe-blades of the guitar. You can skip this step if you don't want them, of course. 

Close the body of the guitar as needed. 

With that done, you can now affix the neck to the body of the guitar for the final time.  

With that done, complete the wiring for the guitar parts and accessories within the body of the guitar. Tape down or push into the guitar body cavities the electronic components, and seal them with any back or cover plates you have made. 

Install the axe blades too. 

With that done, plug in the power and check that the internal wiring has been completed correctly. If not, open up the guitar and problem solve, as needed. 

Once happy, string the guitar and finish off any other decorative features you want on the guitar, neck, and head. If not already done, you can also add the guitar strap to the piece ready for use. 

With that done, plug in the jack, turn on your amp, grab your pick and blast away some banging tunes.
