Every pane of glass smashed again at Crosfields bus stop | Warrington Guardian

DISGRACEFUL vandals have smashed every pane of glass at a frequently targeted bus shelter.

Crosfields bus stop on Liverpool Road has been damaged again – just days after it was repaired following prior vandalism.

Bus users have reported large amounts of shattered glass littering the pavement this morning, Wednesday.

One said: "A severe level of violence has been used this time.

"The pavement is covered in thick layers of glass and is impassable for the public at the moment unless walking in the road, which is highly dangerous.

The damage seems to be the worst caused yet, raising further questions regarding why the glass is not substituted for a more resilient material.

The Warrington Guardian has again asked Warrington Borough Council whether it will stop replacing the glass like-for-like and use plastic instead, and whether the bus shelter will be replaced with a simple sign.

Last month, a council spokesman said: “A review of bus shelter provision is presently underway to determine the location and type of shelters that will replace the current shelters, as the contract to provide them has recently been refreshed.

“We will consider the volume of damage inflicted to certain shelters as part of this process. The products used to replace panels in shelters are ordinarily determined by the contractor.”
