Title of Installation: ChromaCyclium Organizer or Agency: Ken Roepe Date(s): August 1 – September 30, 2022 Installation Location: Westcrest Park Installation Description: ChromaCyclium is comprised of color acrylic inserts that are mounted in a metal hemisphere dome. Daylight shines through the dome apertures to project colored light in the dome’s shadow on the ground below. As the sun moves throughout the day the appearance will change. This class will focus on paintings of the little things that bring us delight and lessons on how to use color to bring life and feeling into every painting. Bring your curiosity and an idea of a significant object in your life to the first class. No experience necessary.

Date(s) and Time(s): August 6, 2022, 6 PM – 9 PM  Event Location(s) (e.g., name of park, picnic shelter, etc.): Green Lake, northwest shore at West Green Lake Drive North and Stone Avenue North   Event Description: On Saturday, August 6, candle-lit lanterns will float across Green Lake at From Hiroshima to Hope, Seattle’s annual peace and cultural event honoring the victims of the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and all victims of war and violence. Pre-program activities begin at 6:00 p.m., and a family program with music, poetry, taiko drumming and speakers begins at 7:00 p.m. The candle-lit lantern ceremony begins at 8:15 p.m., with lanterns floating on the lake at dusk, offering a moving and beautiful conclusion to this free, community arts and cultural event.  Event Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FromHiroshimaToHope  Event Website: http://fromhiroshimatohope.org

Title of Event(s): 14/48: The World’s Quickest Theater Festival  Organizer or Agency: The 14/48 Projects  Date(s) and Time(s): August 19th and 20th shows at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM  Event Location(s) (e.g., name of park, picnic shelter, etc.): Salmon Bay Park Event Description: Each day of 14/48: The World’s Quickest Theater Festival- 75 artists are randomly ensemble into creative teams in order to write, cast, rehearse, design, build, score, and perform 14 original 10-minute plays in 48 hours. Title of Event(s): BAZZOOKAFEST Organizer or Agency: BAZZOOKAFEST, The Vera Project & Northwest Film Forum  Date(s) and Time(s): August 20, 2022, 12-10PM Event Location(s) (e.g., name of park, picnic shelter, etc.): Jefferson Park  Event Description: BAZZOOKAFEST is an annual physical and virtual space cultivated by and for BIPOC artists, creators, entrepreneurs, and business owners in Seattle to connect, celebrate strength in solidarity, and promote community access in the wake of disparity for black and brown artists. Our all-day festival employs musicians of color to perform live, filmmakers of color to have their work screened, and black-owned businesses to platform and sell their work on their terms. Last year, The Stranger “BAZZOOKAFEST is more than a festival, it’s a vibe” and South Seattle Emerald called it a “blueprint for more events and platforms that center BIPOC artists on their terms.” This year, it will be even bigger and Park & Play with Reconnect better.

This delightful one-hour performance expands our relationship with the outdoors and our community, as we celebrate the role public outdoor space plays in our lives. Besides, it is also an opportunity to explore Nepalese arts, crafts and cuisines. The goal of this event is to create a platform for local artists and the general public to learn and perform Nepalese music and dances as well as educate, engage and inspire the community to foster intercultural understanding and appreciation. Title of Event(s): 28th Annual Back to School Picnic Organizer or Agency: Eritrean Community in Seattle and Vicinity Date(s) and Time(s): 08/28/22, 12:00 – 7:00PM Event Location(s) (e.g., name of park, picnic shelter, etc.): Pratt Park Event Description: This event will feature Eritrean and American food, fun activities for kids, entertainment including music and dance by the Eritrean Dance Group, performances by NW Tap Connection and a DJ; face painting, a balloon artist and henna artists; storytelling and sing-along sessions led by our elders; haircuts for boys and hair braiding for girls; and much more. We will also be giving away free backpacks and school supplies and will use the event to offer vital resource information and basic health-related and education services with the help of partner organizations and agencies.
